What you will be doing

This role will own the end to end process of managing security policies, specifically firewall rules, accross multiple platforms that participate in securing Cencora applications and data. These platforms include Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Cisco Firepower, VMWare NSX-T, Netskope SSE, Cisco IOS, Citrix NetScaler, Microsoft Defender.

Firewall policies must be managed across their lifecycle - from request, review implementation, validation and eventually decommissioning.

This role will assume accountability for overseeing the management of these policies and devising an automation strategy to cope with the ever-increasing demand for them.

This role will be accountable for the Security Policy technical service, acting as a service architect. Close collaboration with our Information Security Office (ISO) and the Infrastructure platform teams is necessary as policy requirements evolve. Moreover, it will be their duty to drive continuous improvement efforts concerning our security policy ruleset across all platforms.

• Participates in short- and long-term planning efforts with stakeholders and IT groups for our network infrastructure.
• Identifies and communicates how IT infrastructure solutions can support the goals.
• Leads the evaluation of technical requirements for projects to determine the impact to the infrastructure and helps match resources with requirements.
• Determines systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
• Ensures proper communication/review of requirements and integration for impacted areas.
• Explains to non-ITs how the proposed solution will support their requirements.
• Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology.
• Leads the Architecture design, development and test of technical solutions or infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements and functional specifications.
• Ensures the integration of business requirements into the development process.
• Coordinates development activities with other groups.
• Provides technical consulting on the integration of application systems.
• Develops custom integration solutions including major enhancements, interfaces, functions and features.
• Maintains existing capabilities, making recommendations, and implementing appropriate up to date security technologies.
• Ensures the integrity of host computers, multiple databases, and secure data transfer.
• Directs efforts to demonstrate that information systems are compliant with appropriate corporate policies, industry standards, government regulations, and contractual requirements.
• Ensures all documentation knowledge transfer to production support.
• Ensures performance meets the present and future needs of the business.
• Forecasts utilization patterns and identifies modifications or upgrades.
• Conducts reviews periodically with users and vendors.
• Defines and ensures continuous monitoring procedures are set according to the standard procedures and requirements.
• Creates a plan to evolve the system to reduce cost and improve system dynamics.
• Recommends procedures and controls for problem resolution or creates temporary solutions until permanent solutions can be implemented.
• Researches, analyzes, and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any current or similar future problems.

What your background should look like

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis or a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Typically has a minimum of 8 years of IT and business/industry work experience, including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning.
• Requires exposure to multiple, diverse infrastructure and network technologies and processing environments.
• Desire to work in an operational (run based) environment.
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues across multiple infrastructures and technologies.
• Experience providing a constructive approach toward technology improvements even when they are outside their typical scope of responsibility.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products.
• Experience leveraging infrastructure tools to help diagnose infrastructure and/or application issues.
• Approaches solutions with a curios and innovative approach.
• Not afraid to challenge the status quo.
• Works well in matrixed environment.
• Provides investigatory approach, working well with limited information or ambiguity.
• Seeks out methods for automation to reduce repetitive work.
• Must relish continuous improvement and drive positive change across areas that may not be under direct supervision.
• Proficient communication skills and experience in mentoring/technically leading teams.
• Ability to translate complicated business requirements into multiple solution options and explain the pros/cons of various approaches.
• Ability to work across application and infrastructure areas.
• Advanced Firewall experience (Palo Alto preferred).
• Network Load Balancer experience (Citrix NetScaler preferred)
• Network automation and scripting.
• Ability to "translate" technical jargon within IT and to non-IT team members.
• Ability to build presentations and business cases and present to senior executives and non IT associates IT.
